About:

This is my first time as a judge so for inspiration I tried to channel Cheryl Cole.
Unfortunately I failed to be cheryl-like in some areas.
Alas I don't have a semi-successful music career, so instead I have had to study advertising. I have a fondness for photography/graphics/type and helped RP/Encore with the copy, design and photography for the last collection PARK.
Cheryl didn't study art at Saint Martins with Reid and I, which was a pity.
I don't date footballers or beat up toilet attendants.

Cheryl and I both like chinese food and really apart from the above we are indistinguishable.

APPETITE: FOR THE CORPSE

Today I will be busy working with my other judges re: the winner of my Polyvore Competition (sooooooo fucking hard! you lot are too fucking creative and awesome! thanks so much again for your entries!) but I am also working like crazy on another exciting venture! Check it out!

APPETITE: FOR THE CORPSE will be a Halloween-inspired evening of grotesque culinary delights at The Pigeon Wing gallery in South Bermondsey.

In the derelict underbelly of South East London, a haunted warehouse will play host to ghosts, witches, ghouls and mad scientists!

During this, the autumnal darkening of days, the line between living and DEAD is at its most fragile intersection. Hoards of the walking dead will stumble down Surrey Canal Road towards the Milwall football stadium on the night of Saturday the 29th October. Those who dare will enter a dark and bewitching world of sensorial enchantment.

Appetite: ForTheCorpse is the first event in a series of experimental dining experiences.

The menu will include:

Starter:
BEATLEJUICE BROTH
(cream of pumpkin soup with toasted pumpkin seeds and parmesan crisps)

Main Course:
INTESTINES & EYEBALLS
(squid Ink pasta with optional sides of meatballs, mozzarella, mushrooms and chives)

Dessert:
CENTIPEDE'S SONG JELLY
BRAISED BABY HEADS (toffee apples)
WITCHES' HAIR (pistachio candy floss)

1970s Japanese horror film, 'HAUSU' (House) will be projected during the meal, interspersed with a smorgasboard of ghoulish and ghastly entertainment!!!!!

Guests are encouraged to dress for the occasion and come prepared with a frightening tale, should they wish to share it.

Tickets: £28.00 (BYOB)
Dates: Saturday 29th October
20 participants per night
Time: 7.30pm-11pm

Please email forthecorpse@gmail.com to reserve your place.
(reservations will be on a first come, first served basis so please book asap!)

All manner of creatures will be catered for: living, dead, animal, mineral and vegetarian. When booking please highlight which of these applies to you.

APPETITE is a pop-up restaurant and performative/interactive experience which showcases the vision of artists:
Alastair T Willey
Jack George
Reid Peppard
Sarah Blissett

***Please note: INDIVIDUALS CAN RESERVE NOT MORE THAN 2 SEATS A NIGHT DUE TO LIMITED CAPACITY! and THERE WILL BE A %50 CHARGE FOR CANCELATIONS MADE LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE EVENT***

Single Crow Tongue Bracelet : Loss

This year I lost two people to cancer. First, my godmother Jamie Roach and then my Uncle John shortly thereafter.

Cancer is a bitch.

I made this single crow tongue bracelet for Jamie before she died, and she wore it up until her death.

I'll be selling these single crow tongue bracelets to raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in honour of her death/life. Get in touch if you're interested in buying one, and supporting a damn good cause for £250 not including postage.

Unusual Gifts

One of the perks of doing what I do is people tend to remember and get in touch when they see/find something they think I might like. Pretty cool right?

Being a bit of a packaging junkie myself, something that I always find interesting is how people wrap up, preserve and pack the items they save for me. I get frozen squirrels wrapped in ten corner shop bags, brown and white pigeons in hat boxes and a little dried up black widow spider sent over in Tiffany's box!

Here are two photos of some recent gifts...

Dinosaurs and Freak Taxidermy

I've been restoring some work I made a while back.

www.SlikoMat.com

I'm not usually one for "taxidermy freaks". I tend to find that concept (and often execution) all a bit easy/amateur. That said, I still have a bit of a soft spot for these guys... perhaps because of the obvious/cartoon like head/body switch. These were some of my first sculptures involving taxidermy before I learned how to do it myself, so perhaps it's sentimental in that way too.

At the time I was interested in the idea of birds being the closest living ancestors of dinosaurs. I liked the idea of some crazy scientist dude trying to bring dinosaurs back to life by using birds. In this case, the bird used was an edwardian grouse with a decorated mount.

Portrait

A recent portrait of me wearing my pigeon wing headdress by Jean-Francois Carly.

This image is the first of a collaboration between me and four photographers. Each participating photographer is a friend of mine who has been an integral part of the establishment of my practice and RP/Encore. These images reflect their understanding of me/my work and I have no say in what goes on appart from being in the photo.

Stay tuned for the other three images!
