For The Corpse

At long last--- a blog update! What have I been doing with my time recently? Well, besides feebly attempting to find work that pays enough for me to live, I have been hard at work forging a collection of taxidermy works that can be worn! Meet my very first collection of this sort, modeled by the beautiful Billie Temple.

More documentation is to follow, however in case you can't make out what it is, allow me to clarify, this headdress comprises of:

-one large hissing white rat (taxidermy)
-80 swarovski crystals (red-- on the tail)
-bright red swarovski crystal eyes
-one silver skull (clutched between front paws)
-one headband (built into the rat for easy wearing)

I'm meeting with photographer Paul Persky to arrange proper documentation of the collection. Excitement!

Oh, yeah... the collection's name is: "For The Corpse"

The Thread

Tonight is the London Film School Shorts show at the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery. Come at 6:30 to see my film debut in Anshu Poddar's film "The Thread". The night is a collaboration between the National Gallery and the London Film School, so it should be quite a treat! My part is hardly commanding, but it should be interesting none the less. I will have a link to the short film once it's on the web.

Artist Talk for Salon Locale Show

On WEDNESDAY the 18th of June, from 6pm, I will be taking part in an open panel artists discussion at gallery:space in Finsbury Park. The discussion will include myself, the gallery's curator, as well as three other participating artists. We will be talking about our work, and answering questions about the show. The event will take place at gallery:space, and though it is free, it is a ticketed event. People are encouraged to book tickets as soon as possible! This can be done through the gallery:space website, or at the gallery. Free wine is to be had, and it should be an interesting session, as the panel of artists chosen to speak have quite varied interests and practices.

gallery:space is a non profit organization and gallery, committed to bringing engaging and thought provoking exhibits to the Finsbury Park area. As part of their fundraising, they have printed limited edition cards from a few select artists' works (nothing to do with the Salon Locale show mind you...). I was one such contributing artist. Pretty fantastic---I know. There are only thirty five editions of each card, so I suggest quickly clicking here to snap up a Reid Peppard original before they are all sold!

Central Saint Martins Degree Show

The time has come...

Time for this year's batch of young, talented (and probably at this point--- quite troubled) Artists and Designers to showcase their work before getting thrown head first into the real world!

That's right... the Central Saint Martins Degree Show is on from June 14th to the 19th, with the official opening (invitation only) on Friday June 13th.

I will be showcasing an elaborate installation in the first self contained room of the show. The work will address notions of the subtle if slightly subliminal narrative, the artificial and the replica, the work will be an experience not to be missed. Meet the poster child of the new gallery:space Salon Locale show. This small feeder rat was the first taxidermy creation to have been given it's "second life" in my small East London flat. Mounted on a dark wooden shield, it will be shown with two other works of a similarly mounted, yet rather different end of the creature. Confused? Intrigued? Disgusted? We'll see you at the opening then... Wednesday the 7th from 5pm.
