DAS MAGAZIN

This image needs an explanation:

Remember back in January when Selfridges awarded me the status of Bright Young Thing and gave me a window on Oxford Street to decorate for the month of January?

Well, if you were lucky enough to pass by Selfridges any time from the beginning of January until early March you would have also seen two windows filled with life size cardboard cut-outs of all 20 designers/jewellers/artists awarded the status of Bright Young Thing.

When it came time to clear the cut-outs from the windows, Selfridges got in touch, and a few of my friends insisted I pick mine up so they could decorate their houses with life-size 2D versions of yours truly. Well, when I was walking from the tube station to their house with my double me(s) the photo crew from DAS Magazin approached me to take a set of inpromptu photos for their weekly mag! How random is that?

Haha! That's a fanastic background story to a picture. From all the Swiss weeklies, Das Magazin is actually one of the best and it's great and well-deserved exposure!

Suzanne! Thanks so much. Good to know they're a respected 'zine! How's everything going for you? Do you still run that gallery on Columbia Road? So great hearing from you!

Glad you remember me! :) It's indeed one of the very few media outlets I used to read back home. It's a bit like a weekend Guardian supplement with sometimes really controversial (i.e. good) writing very focussed on the young Zurich crowd.

Even though I tremendously enjoyed working as gallery manager for Nelly Duff, I left there in autumn and am currently trying to get my own gallery space going. Fingers crossed.

A friend's friend (I don't recall his name, I think he's from Zurich and said he knows you) recently mentioned you at a pancake party and it was great hearing your name. :)

Hope all is well.

Love & monkey brains,

x
